Georgia Stands Firm Against the Bully!

Georgians attend a rally in Tbilisi August 12, 2008. At least 150,000 protesters cheered President Mikheil Saakashvili outside Georgia’s parliament on Tuesday, backing him in Georgia’s confrontation with Russia over the breakaway region of South Ossetia. Saakashvili was democratically elected by his people and criticized by the Raúl Castros and Hugo Chavez of this world. In this short war and this demonstration of national unity Georgians showed the world that they are ready to take a stand against the bully, even against impossible adds in terms of weaponry and total power. As a result of the Russian invasion the US-Russian relations have been strained, as well as the credibility of Russia among the rest of the worlds democracies. As in any war, both sides caused destruction and wreak havoc among the civilian population. We hope and pray that peace prevails and democracy and mutual respect win the day, till then tensions will remain high in a very dangerous border between the two countries.
