Maria Sharapova; 2007 Winners and Losers!

Winner: The impressive Maria Sharapova ranks up there with our 2007 Winners Circle. She finished the year with a # 5 world ranking. For some Sharapova should have made it to number one in 2007 but the stiff competition in women’s tennis will make Maria work harder in her attempt to become the number one player in the world. In 2007 she garnered the ESPN Best Female Tennis Player Award, Best International Female Athlete, and took the Acura Classic Tournament in San Diego. Although she did not win any of the Grand Slams she was a Finalist at The Australian Open, and a Semifinalist at The French Open. Congratulations Maria!
