Flavia Pennetta Wins the LA Women’s Tennis Championship!

Flavia Pennetta won her eighth career title after downing Samantha Stosur in the final of the $700,000 LA Women’s Tennis Championships, a US Open Series event.

The 10th-seeded Pennetta notched a 6-4, 6-3 win over Stosur in the first-ever meeting between the two players. Out of Pennetta’s eight titles, this is the first in the USA and the second on a hard surface — the other six have come on clay.

It is also her second title of 2009, as she also captured a tournament in Palermo, Italy.
